For the last 5 years we have lived in our fixer upper home. We’ve done little projects here and there but now we are getting to the good stuff. I’ve always loved interior decorating and had a vision of the potential our house had lying in store.
I’m also a professional artist and because of that I have a strong need for my surroundings to me visually pleasing and well designed. I was trained in designing on a canvas but I think that naturally flows into other areas of life, including designing my home.
Our home is fairly small at 2200 square feet. It has 7.5 foot ceilings in our finished basement and upper two stories have 8 foot ceilings. There are lots of small rooms. Just to give you an idea of how compartmentalized it is we have three separate living areas! And originally had both and eat in kitchen and dining room.
I have long wished for a more photo worthy home with soaring ceilings and vast space but I’ve learned over these years that I can find joy right where I am. We’ve spend our years here carefully saving and my vision of our home is coming to life!
My husband Cameron, is very outgoing, happy, and handy! I mention any project I want done and he is on board. Lucky me, I married a boy from Idaho who really knows how to work hard.
We have four children ranging from eleven years old to four and they totally influence every design choice I make. It always have to ask myself it a material or item is durable enough to keep up with the kids. I love the challenge though and I know many of you are right there with me.
I hope you follow along with our everyday life and feel inspired to create a space you love no matter where you are.
